Become  an APS School Volunteer
ALL interested school volunteers should contact the school for volunteer opportunities specific to that school community.  To locate school building contact, please click here.  Please check out our brochure to learn more about volunteer opportunities in our district.
Corporate and Community partners may be connected to district contacts for more specific guidance related to your program connection.

Volunteer Registration
ALL school volunteers are required to complete a form (select from the green drop-down below).   This document is automatically sent to your selected school building principal and office staff.  A separate form must be completed for each school of interest.
Volunteers will receive an email notice confirming receipt of the completed form.

Security Checks

All volunteers are subject to a background check process used by the Akron Public School District.  School personnel will request a copy of your Ohio driver's license and/or state I.D. for this purpose.  Volunteers working one-on-one with students are required to get a background check. The cost for a BCI check is $26.00.  Please contact the APS Human Resources office at 330-761-2914 or 330-761-2919 for more information about the background check process.  Any APS volunteer serving students without the supervision of an APS staff person or in a one-on-one (student-adult) environment (virtually or in person) are required to complete a background check for volunteer approval, prior to the start of service.
